VINEYARD

Each year, our vineyards receive roughly 3,000 hours of sunshine, accompanied by relatively heavy rainfalls of about 600 l/ m².

The land scape of the area consists primarily of white limestone hills, known as “albariza.” Its richness is due to the fact that the region was under water thousands of years ago. To a lesser extent, areas of mud and sand appear near the coastal regions.

Lustau has two vineyards in the Jerez region:

-Montegilillo Vineyard. From its “albariza” white limestones oils,we obtain the Palomino grapes from which Manzanillas, Finos, Amontillados and Olorosos are produced.

-Las Cruces Vineyard. Near the coast. In its sandys oils, we grow Muscatel and Pedro Ximénez grapes intended for the production of sweet wines.

ルスタウの樽の大半があるヘレス・デ・ラ・フロンテラでは、500ℓの古いアメリカンオーク樽をボタと呼びます。街の中心部にあり、19世紀に建造された「ロス・アルコス」のボデガ一帯には、2万平米以上の敷地内に、建造時代の異なる6つのボデガがあります。カテドラル様式のそのボデガは、安定した気温と湿度を保つため、高い天井と清らかなアルベロ(砂)の床でできています。そしてシェリーに欠かせないミクロクリマ(微細気候)を作り出すため、定期的に床に水をまく作業をします。そのまさに聖堂のようなボデガの中で、窓から差し込む僅かな光のもと1杯のシェリーを味わうことは、神秘的な経験となることでしょう。

ルスタウの特徴は、最高品質のシェリーというだけでなく、バラエティに富んだラインナップにもあります。ヘレス・デ・ラ・フロンテラ、エル・プエルト・デ・サンタマリア、サンルーカル・デ・バラメダの三角地帯にボデガを持ち、その商品数は40種類以上にのぼります。

Desde 1990, Fernando Pérez es nuestro Master Distiller y Director de Control de Calidad, siendo responsable de la elaboración de nuestros brandies y vermuts de Jerez.

La vasta experiencia que Fernando atesora tras una vida dedicada a la elaboración de bebidas espirituosas, licores y vinos fortificados, se vio reflejada en su nombramiento en 2013 como miembro del Panel de control de calidad del Consejo Regulador de Jerez.

THE ALMACENISTAS

almacenista

Almacenistas (Stock holder) are independent professionals or entrepreneurs who have been historically producing and ageing Sherry.

An Almacenista is not an Sherry shipper and there for etheir wines are usually supplied to larger commercial firms to nurse their Soleras.

The love and care of Almacenista for their activity is shown in their limited Soleras of the finest and rarest Sherries. This Soleras are still operated by the original artisanal methods. All Almacenistas existing today are small family owned operations and most of them are run as a hobby or a secondary source of income, being their core business usually based on a completely different activity.

Lustau was founded in 1896 as an Almacenista itself and has wanted to pay a tribute to this anonymous role in the Sherry trade by creating this very special range of Sherries. During the 80’s Lustau identified a group of Almacenistas from the three towns of the Sherry D.O. and selected small batches from very limited Soleras of rare old Sherries to be bottled under the Lustau Brand.

Today Lustau Almacenista range of Sherries are considered among the best wines in the world and have been recognised by the most reputed competitions winning top awards.

MANUEL CUEVAS JURADO

Manuel Cuevas Jurado was a well known grocer and whole saler in the region who become an “Almacenista” in 1950, although four generations of his family have owned vineyards before him.

Manuel’ssons and and grand children have continued ageing the rarest and most exceptional Manzanillas as tribute to his dedication and love for these wines Today, Cuevas Jurado stocks 1.500 barrels in its Bodega in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Manuel Cuevas Jurado produces Manzanilla Pasada and Amontillado de Sanlúcar.

JOSÉ LUIS GONZÁLEZ OBREGÓN

José Luis started as “Almacenista” in 1959 as a part time hobby, after retiring from his position as general Capataz (Cellar Master) at an important local Sherry Firm. José Luis has been since stocking very limited batches of the finest Sherries in el Puerto.

Today, his son Manuel González has taken over the business as “Almacenista” with the same passion and dedication as his father.

José Luis González Obregón produces Fino del Puerto, Amontillado del Puerto and Oloroso del Puerto.

JUAN GARCÍA-JARANA

Juan own sone of the most important motor bike franchise in Andalucia. When starting his business he bought a small but charming Bodega located in Santiago’s historical Gipsy quarter.


This bodega called “El Aljibe” was to be used as a ware house for his stock of motor bikes but he found the most wonderful Sherries which had been ageing there for decades and decided to become an “Almacenista”.


Lustau selected the Pata de Gallina Oloroso in 1989 which has become since one of themost popular wines in the Almacenista range.

CAYETANO DEL PINO

Fundada en 1886 por Cayetano del Pino Vázquez, la bodega ya era famosa a finales del siglo XIX por la calidad de sus Amontillados y Palos Cortados. En la actualidad la bodega sigue en manos familiares bajo la gerencia de Gerardo del Pino Íñiguez. Gerardo trabaja cada día para mantener la fama de las soleras que estableció su bisabuelo.

Vides was founded by Tomás Domecq Rivero in 1958, one of the most important share holders of the historical Sherry Firm Pedro Domecq. Tomás had a special preference for fine old Sherries which were aged and topped up in their Soleras with wines produced in his vineyard. His “Almacenista” business is no wowned by his grandson, Fernando León-ManjónDomecq, who also in herited the love and passion for Rare Sherries.

Some 800 barrels of Oloroso and Palo Cortado are stocked in this Bodega
