In 1944, he tested a new drink on two friends, <strong>Ham and Carrie Guild,<\/strong> who lived in Tahiti at the time.  After the first taste, Carrie proclaimed <strong>\u201cmai tai-roa ae\u201d,<\/strong> which means \u2018out of this world \u2013 the best\u2019 in Tahitian. If you want to stay true to the original recipe from Trader Vic, try using an <strong>aged rum<\/strong> by J.
