The organization regularly met at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel, and over time, grew and expanded into a club for Philadelphia\u2019s upper class.  The Clover Club in essentially a <strong>riff on the Clover Leaf cocktail,<\/strong> which was first published in 1908, one year before the first known recipe of the Clover Club.  <strong>The first reference<\/strong> to the Clover Club dates back to <strong>1909 <\/strong>and can be found in Paul E. Lowe\u2019s book Drinks: how to mix and how to serve.  The only elements that differ from one another are the <strong>glassware and the garnish.<\/strong>  Despite the similarities in both cocktails, only the <strong>Clover Club has survived <\/strong>throughout the years.
