Bodegas Lustau<\/a>, a leading producer of Sherry wines recognized for outstanding accolades, is introducing a new Amontillado to its Almacenista collection<\/a> – Amontillado del Castillo 1\/38<\/a> from Almacenista Antonio Caballero y Sobrinos.<\/p>\n

This 18-year-old Amontillado, aged in a limited solera of 38 casks located inside a medieval castle in El Puerto de Santa Mar\u00eda, has already been praised by critics alike and its quality endorsed by international awards.<\/p>\n

With this new addition to its world-famous Sherry portfolio, Lustau continues to uncovering extraordinary liquid treasures from the Sherry triangle.<\/p>\n

The Wine. Amontillado del Castillo 1\/38<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bright amber colour with coppery reflections. Intense aromas of hazelnut pralin\u00e9 with elegant notes of candied orange zest. Nuances of varnish and cabinetry with smoked wood in the background.<\/p>\n

Dry, pungent and flavoursome in the palate, with a refreshing acidity. Enormously nutty with a delicious salty spiced touch and an extremely long aftertaste.<\/p>\n

\"Almacenista<\/p>\n

The Almacenista. Antonio Caballero y Sobrinos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Antonio Caballero ran the family business, a brandy distillery, in the 1870\u2019s in El Puerto de Santa Mar\u00eda. Antonio always expressed a passion for Sherry wines. At the end of the 19th century he established a few soleras <\/em>of Sherry which he cared for personally with devotion for over two decades.<\/p>\n

In the 1960\u2019s, one of Antonio\u2019s nephews, Luis Caballero Noguera, moved the most special soleras<\/em> to a very unique location, the Castle of San Marcos, a landmark building in the historic centre of El Puerto de Santa Mar\u00eda, where these Sherry wines have rested surrounded by a halo of history, culture and mystery ever since.<\/p>\n

The Cellar. El Castillo de San Marcos<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rich heritage of this Castle has not only shaped the history of this town, but also the history of Spain, witnessing crucial moments that changed the course of times past.<\/p>\n

Initially built as a Roman church, it was then turned into an Islamic mosque. With its current shape, the fortress was a temporary home to distinguished inhabitants such as King Alfonso X \u201cthe Wise\u201d and the explorer Christopher Columbus.<\/p>\n

All of the history and culture contained within its walls make this castle a unique and magical place to age Sherry.<\/p>\n
