Once again, it is the most awarded Spanish winery, earning 4 ‘Trophies’ and 40 prizes—13 of them gold medals across all Lustau wine ranges
Jerez, May 29, 2025. Bodegas Lustau has once again emerged as the most awarded Spanish winery at the 42nd edition of the International Wine Challenge, going beyond its 2024 performance. This prestigious global competition, recognized as one of the most influential in the wine world and featuring entries from countries across the globe, has just announced its 2025 winners in London.
Lustau receivedfour ‘Trophies’, the highest distinction awarded by the competition. Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa, a biologically aged wine, won the Manzanilla Sherry Trophy; Lustau Añada 1995, a rare vintage Palomino wine from the Jerez region, claimed the Medium Sherry Trophy; and Lustau Amontillado Botaina achieved a historic double win, taking both the Amontillado Trophy and the prestigious Sherry Trophy, awarded to the best sherry overall.
Once again, Lustau has broken its own record set last year, increasing its total to 40 awards, including 13 gold medals. These 13 golds span the entire Lustau portfolio, making it the Spanish winery with the most gold medals at this year’s competition.
“Having all our ranges awarded with gold medals reflects our commitment to quality and is an incredible recognition of the daily work we do at the winery,” said Sergio Martínez, oenologist and cellar master at Bodegas Lustau, who has been named Fortified Winemaker of the Year by IWC on six occasions. This year’s nominees for that special category will be announced soon.
Lustau once again stood out for the excellence of its VORS range, considered the most extensive in the Jerez region, winning gold medals for five of its VORS wines. Also recognized were entries from its specialties collection, including PX Murillo Centenario, a wine bottled in 1996 to commemorate the winery’s first centenary.
