With a total of 46 awards – including six gold medals and two trophies – Lustau is Spain’s most awarded winery for another year

Jerez, 19 May 2022. Bodegas Lustau (www.lustau.es) has achieved exceptional results in the 39th edition of the International Wine Challenge competition in London, making it the most awarded winery for another year, with a total of 46 awards, including six gold medals and two trophies.

These results were decisive in ensuring the nomination of Sergio Martínez, the winery’s winemaker and capataz, for the title of “Fortified Winemaker of the Year,” an accolade that he has been awarded in the last five editions of the competition. On this occasion, the winner will be announced at a gala dinner that will take place in London on the 7th of July.

The winery has received the following trophies, which are given to the best wines in their category:

– Pedro Ximénez Trophy:
Lustau Pedro Ximénez VORS
– Manzanilla Pasada Trophy:
Lustau Manzanilla Pasada de Sanlúcar Almacenista Cuevas Jurado

This trophy given to the best Manzanilla Pasada recognises the homage paid by Lustau to the knowledge of the almacenistas, small-scale artisans who are dedicated to making and ageing wines that are then sold to the large commercial wineries. Lustau, which started out as an almacenista, works hand in hand with these tradespeople, who play a crucial role in the Sherry Triangle, to put together the specialist Almacenistas range, which is made up of a selection of unique wines with a character all of their own.

Some of the top gold medal winners include:

  • Lustau Almacenista Manzanilla Pasada de Sanlúcar Cuevas Jurado
  • Lustau Almacenista Palo Cortado de Jerez Cayetano del Pino
  • Lustau Amontillado VORS
  • Lustau Pedro Ximénez VORS

These results all highlight Lustau’s position as a leading producer of top-quality wines with an unrivalled record in recent years in offering the broadest and most-awarded range of sherry wines.
